Hello. My name is Arthur.
Welcome to Senior Living Helpers. Here, we will be looking at multiple ways of managing care for seniors and their caregivers. The better tools you have, the more organized you will be and in turn everyone has less stress.
My Story Being A Care Giver
When I was a young boy, my mom was the world to me. She was like a superhero. I never saw her get tired or complain. It was a difficult life for her and I living with an abusive father/husband. I was about 4 years old, dropped to my knees next to my bed and prayed for God to give me the strength and understanding how to take care of my mother for rest of my life. My parents divorced when I was 18 years old. I went on to study computers. At 25 years old went to college and received a science degree. At 31 years old became a systems engineer. I had tools now to take of myself and my mother. As mom grew older. She started to slow down, show signs of clumsiness and lack of desire to move. She eventually was showing signs of Alzheimer’s, Dementia and Parkinson’s disease. The last 5-6 years of her life became difficult. The last 3 years, she needed more help with getting to the bathroom. Then it was got extremely difficult for hygiene, feeding, changing diapers etc. I became a professional caregiver. I worked hard to understand where and how to get help. I learned how to be extremely efficient and loving in new ways. My mom passed away on August 15, 2017. She died in my hands. I truly am grateful to God and all the wonderful people who helped me. God gave me my wish to take care of my mother until her death.
Why I Want To Help People
Life can be stressful when taking care of a loved one. By being better organized, I have found taking care of my mother was less stressful. My goal is to help as many people as possible to recognize and understand how to keep stress levels low. I will be offering guidence of products, information to get help and time management. The physical tools like diapers, hospital beds, wheelchairs, commodes etc. are vast. It can be overwhelming to understand what’s best for you. I have a passion for researching and helping people understand what works best in most situations.
In addition, I will be offering guidance on reading materials, videos, advice from professionals and places to look for constant growth as a caregiver. Being a caregiver is not easy, but being a person with many challenges is very difficult too. You will always be evolving with the one you care for. Never give up! Don’t feel as though you’re alone. I am here to help.
My Goal For You
I want to help people become more knowledgeable of what to do, where to look and how to get help. This makes a happier caregiver and patient relationship. I wish you to have better communications with your loved one/patient and the people helping you take care of them. I will be showing convenient ways of getting products, guidance, advice and professional help. Let’s all work together on making life safer and more comfortable for all. Bless you all.
