This is a fairly affordable bed with great utility for the average person that needs to be in bed for extended periods of time. The price point starts at $891.06 and goes up from there. This price point comes with no mattress. A basic foam mattress can be purchased for $137.99 from Drive Medical company. It’s a good quality mattress made of foam and removable cover. The cover is liquid resistant and removable for washing. There are varying degrees of mattresses, but this does the job without breaking the bank. The bed comes with the basics. It has a frame with springs, head and foot board with wood grain appearance. Also, comes with half sized side rails to keep the person in bed from falling out. In addition, the bed can have the head and legs raised up and down. The entire bed can move up and down as well. It comes with a 9v battery incase of a power outage. It will allow up to 9 movements up and down with the battery. The basic dimensions are 88.5 x 35.75 x 35.75 inches. It can hold a weight capacity of 350 pounds.
The number two bed is Drive Medical 14029 Med-Aire Low Air Loss Mattress Replacement System with Alternating Pressure, Blue. The price point starts at $1026.99 and goes up from there. This product comes with an alternating air pressure mattress. This mattress design helps provide alternating pressure and low air loss to optimize pressure redistribution. This helps with managing skin maceration to prevent, treat and manage pressure ulcers in a long term care setting. A digital pump with diagnostic alarms allows for customization for an individual needs. Also, there’s an auto return to alternating pressure mode if system is left on static mode for at least 2 hours and more if necessary. There are always many options available on the market. Many of the ones I’ve seen offer payment options for up to 2 years. Also, you may want to look into the possibility of getting some financial help from Medicare an other insurances. I have personally found after purchasing a home hospital bed; the folks from the company you purchased from usually will put it together for you. Also, will give you a little instruction on how it works.
In conclusion, keep in mind the person for which you are making this purchase. If the person is somewhat mobile, you may be able to get away with a cheaper model.
